The thistle is the national emblem of Scotland. As folklore tells it, Viking soldiers were about to invade Scotland, but one of the invading soldiers stepped on a thorny thistle and yelled in pain, waking the Scottish army, thus saving the country from ruin.
Strong and Determined is made of solid sterling silver from a 19th century wax seal. All cracks are from the original wax. It has been hand toned, waxed, and polished to bring out the detail of the original seal.
